New Life is Strange Leak Suggests Chloe Gets Powers, And Not Everyone’s Happy

Can she stop time?

Earlier this week saw Life Is Strange fans treated to their first glimpse at another upcoming entry and with Max and Chloe set to team up once again, players are feeling divided over a potential feature.

Life Is Strange: Reunion will mark the fifth main instalment in the beloved Life is Strange series, acting as a direct sequel to 2024’s Life Is Strange: Double Exposure.

However, unlike Double Exposure, Reunion will see the return of Chloe Price who we first met way back in 2015 with Dontnod Entertainment’s Life Is Strange.

Chloe was last seen in Life Is Strange: Before the Storm but most notably, her fate was left up to the player to decide during the end events of Life Is Strange, with players able to choose between saving her or the town of Arcadia Bay.

So, if you did choose to sacrifice Chloe, it begs the question as to how she is back in Life Is Strange: Reunion.

Time Travelling Partners in Time

Luckily, the multiverse doesn't just exist in Marvel and it looks like Max’s time-travelling abilities are key to bringing Chloe back, with the pair teaming up once more.

Now that a fire is destined to destroy Caledon University, the school where Max currently finds herself, she and Chloe must find a way to stop the disastrous event with the player able to switch between the pair throughout gameplay.

However, Chloe, who is not gifted with supernatural superpowers is still able to use her Backtalk ability which we first saw in Life Is Strange: Before the Storm.

Chloe Is Just Gifted With Quick Wit

That being said, according to one leaker over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, Chloe could find herself exploring some new abilities.

More specifically, she may be able to stop time completely.

“A friend of mine worked with the development of this new game,” they shared.

“The plot is that Chloe is aware of everything that happened in all the other games.

“She develops powers (she can stop time) and she goes with the main character who can rewind time and jump between times or something like that.

“The game is about making choices that affect the rest of the game.”

This could, of course, be another example of “my uncle works at Nintendo” but if true, players are not feeling happy about Chloe’s potential powers.

However, others believe that this user has simply confused Chloe’s returning Backtalk ability with the ability to stop time.

After all, she can engage in 1v1 “battles” in which she will have to outwit her opponent in a series of dialogue options, essentially “stopping time” whilst the mini-game plays out.

As of the time of writing, there have been no hints or examples of Chloe sporting a superpower and it would seem like a bit of a bizarre feature to add this many years on from her original appearance.

Nevertheless, we can never say never and fortunately, we will find out what Chloe is truly capable of when Life Is Strange: Reunion launches on 26 March.
