The Last Of Us live-action Abby casting leaves fans 'breathless'

HBO's The Last of Us fans have been left "breathless" by the latest Abby fan casting ahead of the show's second season.

When it comes to The Last of Us’ second season, there is one question on everybody’s lips: Who is going to play Abby?

Let’s take a look at what we do know. HBO’s The Last of Us is officially in pre-production. The scripts are being worked on and filming locations have already been scouted and announced. It goes without saying that season two will adapt Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, but it will do so across “several seasons” seeing as Part II is a much larger game than Part I. If you’re a fan of that ‘Take on Me’ Ellie and Dina scene, Bella Ramsey has already been showing off their guitar and singing skills. When it comes to Abby, there is no official news - although there have been several great fancasts. That tradition is continuing as a new face is vying for the role.

Take a look at an incredible clicker cosplay below.

As reported by Dexerto, one actress keen to be in the running is Mary Krantz. Krantz may not be a big name in the acting world, but she is a familiar face to some The Last of Us fans. Based in Portland, Oregon, Krants appeared as Abby in the impressive fan film Revenge released back in 2021. Directed by Tommy Jackson, Revenge followed the key story beats of The Last of Us Part II.

One user commented, “The girl who played Abby looked so much like her it was almost creepy. Props to you guys,” while another added, “I was breathless when I saw Abby.” Someone else wrote, “My jaw did drop with the Abby reveal. She looks just like her.”

Krantz has expressed interest in reprising the role for the HBO series, but Dexerto asked if she was ready for the backlash that comes with playing a controversial character. “The online backlash doesn’t worry me too much. It does get hard because our lives these days are so intertwined with the internet, but I know that I have some control over what online spaces I exist in, and which ones I do not,” she said. “The times when that backlash shows up in the physical world, like the threats that Laura Bailey received, do make me nervous.”

“Just within the online groups for The Last of Us, there’s some positive spaces and there’s negative ones. I don’t take part in those negative discussions. I don’t even look at the comments. I follow the light.” To date, Krantz claims she’s had no official contact with HBO’s casting directors.
