PlayStation users will likely have seen that a State of Play was announced on Wednesday.
It’ll be held on Tuesday 2 June at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm BST and is said to run for “over 60 minutes” with additional clues pointing more towards a runtime of 90 minutes.
That’s because the State of Play is being streamed in select cinemas, or movie theatres, in the United States.
Alamo Drafthouse is screening the event at select locations, and it’s listing a runtime of 90 minutes.

While this event is adopting the State of Play moniker, it’s believed to be more on par with what might have been called a PlayStation Showcase in the past.
The wide belief is that PlayStation has shifted away from that branding, instead just opting to go with State of Play moving forwards.
Officially, all the event has teased is an update on Marvel’s Wolverine as well as “updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world”.
That will likely include both first and third-parties.
So-called insiders are teasing a Hogwarts Legacy 2 reveal, with the Faye-centric God of War spin-off also likely to make an appearance; remember to take such rumours with a pinch of salt.
There’s something about the event that could send ripples of hype through the The Last of Us fandom too.
The last time that PlayStation streamed a showcase in cinemas was during E3 2018, and it was during that event that The Last of Us Part II was revealed.
You can understand why expectations are high.
Of course, spotting this fact doesn’t necessarily mean that The Last of Us Part III is set to be revealed; it’s not the only clue that the game is coming though.
It was just a few weeks ago that franchise creator Neil Druckmann teased that he was excited for “the few stops” that remain for the franchise.
“Been a wild journey. Grateful for every part of it, especially the few stops that remain on the road ahead,” he posted online.

Looking further back to the Grounded II: The Making of The Last of Us Part II documentary, Druckmann said, “For years now, I haven't been able to find that concept,” referencing a third game.
“But recently, that's changed, and I don't have a story, but I do have that concept that to me is as exciting as 1, as exciting as 2, is its own thing, and yet has this throughline for all three. So it does feel like there's probably one more chapter to this story."
Add in the fact that Neil Druckmann has stepped away from his work on HBO’s TV adaptation and it’s clear to see that he’s definitely more in demand at Naughty Dog.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be consuming much of his time but The Last of Us Part III is obviously coming at some point.
Is a Part III reveal during next month’s State of Play wishful thinking? Probably.
But the game’s reveal is starting to become a question of when and not if, so all The Last of Us fans will probably be keeping their fingers crossed anyway.
