Though the films never managed to touch on it beyond faint whispers, the Old Republic era is easily one of the most interesting in the entire Star Wars canon.

It's little wonder that it was chosen as the period for BioWare's RPG classic Knights of the Old Republic and the sequel of the same name, with the latter being developed by the storied team at Obsidian Entertainment.

Despite the unbelievable praise that both of those games received, plans for a third were never fully realised and it's left a lot of us fans wondering what exactly we missed out on.

Well, it turns out we might have missed out on the coolest Star Wars game of all time and I, for one, am livid about it.

In an interview with VG247 from 2019, former Obsidian Writer Chris Avellone confirmed what the narrative had in store for us, saying, "The third game involved you, as a player character, following where Revan went and then taking the battle to the really ancient Sith lords who are far more terrifying than the Darths that show up."

He continued, "These guys would just be monsters. These would have a level of power that was considerable, but at the same time you’d be able to dig more into their psychologies, and their personalities, their history."

So, yeah. If you're into Star Wars, you'll know how epic that sounds, and it seems the community over on Reddit was inclined to agree.

"Disney needs to just come out and say KOTOR 1 and 2 are canon and the MMO is not. Then they should have Obsidian make KOTOR 3 and we’ll all be happy. Revan and the Exile deserve a proper ending to their saga. Make it happen goddamnit," one said.

Another added, "This is why I was mad at SWTOR. They rushed into the MMO market at the expense of a game I really wanted to see get made. KOTOR 2 did not feel like the end of something."

"Man it makes me so sad to think we will never get the KOTOR 3 we deserve. When I think Star Wars, I think these games, and it breaks my heart every time we see news about what KOTOR 3 was supposed to be. It sounded like such a great game and the natural conclusion to Revan, one of Star Wars’ greatest characters," another user shared.

Though we're likely never to get the conclusion to the trilogy, the much-anticipated remake has resurfaced and we could finally be getting a better look at what that's going to be like soon.

Maybe they could add on more of a well-rounded conclusion, so players finally get the closure they've been looking for.
