It is another big loss for the gaming industry as one beloved actor unfortunately passed away over the weekend.

Jonathan Joss, who was perhaps best known for his roles in Red Dead Redemption, Cyberpunk 2077, and Days Gone, was fatally shot over the weekend following a suspected dispute with a neighbour.

Joss, who was 59, starred in his fair share of video games but was also a beloved cast member of the long-running animated sitcom King of the Hill.

His death is a huge blow to the media world, especially regarding the details surrounding it.

According to police, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene after engaging in a suspected altercation with a neighbour.

He was reportedly shot “several times” near the site of Joss’ former home which burnt down back in January. After the event, the suspected shooter, identified as Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, fled the scene but was later arrested.

Although a motive has not yet been confirmed, Joss’ husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales believes it was the result of homophobia and an ongoing harassment campaign against the couple.

"My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home," de Gonzales’ statement read.

"That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done."

Gonzales also reveals that the skulls of their dogs who had passed away in the fire had been placed at the site and that is what the couple had stumbled across on the day of the fatal shooting.

"We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,” he continued.

“While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life."

Joss had a long and impressive career both in television shows and video games and has left behind a beautiful legacy.

GAMINGbible sends its heartfelt condolences to all of Jonathan's family, friends, and colleagues.
