If you’ve ever wanted a first-person mashup of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Elden Ring, this upcoming FPS from publisher 4Divinity might be the one for you.
Guns of Eschaton is an upcoming mystical FPS set in 19th century America, featuring iconic historical figures and mythical archetypes of the Old West, but reimagined for a fantasy apocalyptic setting.
The game fuses the FPS genre with a souls-like challenge similar to games like Elden Ring or Dark Souls, with the mix of authentic history and fantastical characters making it an interesting world to explore.
In Guns of Eschaton, every shot counts. You embark on a journey from the West to the East Coast, exploring a dying America as you travel.

In this brave new world, each enemy encounter becomes a test of your skills, with your preparation, survival, and resource management pushed to the limits.
Similar to other soulslikes, combat in Guns of Eschaton is incredibly strategic. Over the course of the game, you’ll tackle hostile encounters by using custom ammunition, well-timed parries, precise dashes, and the Codex, which reveals enemy weaknesses to you.

The apocalyptic world of Guns of Eschaton was envisioned by the late Viktor Antonov, whose body of work as an art director includes Dishonored and Half-Life 2.
Antonov’s work as a video game artist goes back to the 1990s, beginning as a map painter on the Redneck Rampage series. He later moved to Valve, working as art director on Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source.
His designs for Half-Life 2’s City 17, blending its principal design as a decaying European urban setting with oppressive futuristic cyberpunk visuals, played a huge role in the game becoming a blockbuster success.
Antonov later moved to Arkane Studios, first as a level designer for Dark Messiah of Might and Magic before being the visual design director on Dishonored. He also worked as a consultant on games like Fallout 4, Doom, and Prey.
Antonov died in Paris in 2025 of undisclosed causes. At the time, Guns of Eschaton was described as being about “a gunslinger exploring a world 'on the verge of destruction’”.

“We are incredibly honoured to be revealing Guns of Eschaton, the final project shaped by the extraordinary vision of Viktor Antonov,” reads a statement by Eschatology Entertainment’s Fuad Kuliev.
“From the earliest stages of development, I had the privilege of shaping this world together with Viktor: where ideas, themes, and concepts evolved through his talent into the world players will see today. Viktor's imagination and creative legacy have been a constant source of inspiration throughout development, and this game is the result of an incredible collaborative effort from our entire team to bring that vision to life.”
Guns of Eschaton currently doesn’t have a release date, but is expected to launch on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
