Joker 2 first teaser shows Joaquin Phoenix in Arkham Asylum

Joker 2 first teaser shows Joaquin Phoenix in Arkham Asylum

An Instagram post published by director Todd Phillips has finally given us our first glimpse of Joker: Folie à Deux, releasing in 2024.

Earlier this year, it was officially confirmed that a sequel to Joker is in the works. Titled Joker: Folie à Deux, the film isn’t set to release until 2024, so we still have quite a wait on our hands, and at the moment, very little information to go on.

For now, all we really know for sure is that Joaquin Phoenix will be joined by none other than Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, which certainly makes the rumours about the film being a musical make a lot more sense. Although we’re still yet to see a trailer, as Screen Rant reports, we’ve just got our first proper look at the film via director Todd Phillips.

Before we get into it, take a look at this incredible deleted scene from The Batman, featuring Joker.

On Instagram, Phillips confirmed that production is in full swing with a simple caption: “Day 1. Our boy.” The image shown sees Phoenix being shaved in Arkham Asylum, which doesn’t really give anything about the plot away, but it’s still very exciting to see the actor in action again, and there’s no doubt he’ll do a fantastic job in the role.

With a confirmed release date of 4 October, 2024, it seems that we’re probably going to be getting the Joker sequel before the highly anticipated follow up to The Batman. Yes, that’s thankfully still happening, but it’s currently believed that it could be releasing as late as 2025. Personally, I’m super excited to see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as the caped crusader.

In other DC news, Margot Robbie recently revealed that she’d love for Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s romance to make it to the silver screen: “I have been pushing for that for years. I cannot tell you how hard I've been pushing for that. I want it too,” she told Comic Book.
