John Wick 4's incredible Rotten Tomatoes score hails a lethal masterpiece

The reviews for John Wick: Chapter 4 are in, and it sounds like it's going to surpass fans' expectations.

It’s almost time. In less than 10 days, John Wick: Chapter 4 will hit cinemas, and its critic reviews seem to pretty much guarantee that it’ll be worth the wait.

Earlier this month, critics who attended early screenings of John Wick: Chapter 4 began posting their first impressions online, and at this point, it was clear that we’re in for something really special. One described the movie as “action cinema at its finest”, while another said that “it's an epic with smart pacing that never lets the action feel exhausting”.

Take a look at the trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 below.

The entire John Wick series has been very highly rated up to this point - on Rotten Tomatoes, the first film has a very respectable 86% on the Tomatometer, while the second and third films both have phenomenal 89% ratings. As more reviews come in, the critic score for John Wick: Chapter 4 keeps fluctuating - a few moments ago, it was a whopping 90%, and at the time of writing, it’s dropped to a slightly lower 88%. Even as it continues to change slightly, as UNILAD reports, it’s clear that the fourth film lives up to its predecessors’ reputations.

So, what did reviewers have to say? Digital Spy’s Ian Sandwell wrote: “John Wick: Chapter 4 is an epic in every sense of the word: epic in length, epic in scale and epic in thrills. Not bad for a series that started out with a hitman avenging his dead puppy.”

Cinapse’s Ed Travis took the praise a step further, writing: “John Wick: Chapter 4 is simply one of the greatest action films of this generation, and perhaps of all time.”

With that said, not everyone was full of positivity. Slant Magazine’s Derek Smith said: “If anything, the film proves that John Wick is doomed to further Marvelization.”

If you want to reserve judgement until you’ve watched the film yourself, again, there’s not long to wait. John Wick: Chapter 4 will hit cinemas on 24 March.
