Jennifer Lawrence drops R-rated trailer for controversial new comedy

A new R-rated trailer has been released for Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming sex comedy No Hard Feelings.

Jennifer Lawrence is set to return to our screens later this year with the new R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings. I say ‘return’ as Lawrence actually took a mini break from acting in recent years. After Winter’s Bone and The Hunger Games catapulted the actress to superstardom, Lawrence spent the best part of a decade working on back-to-back projects with press tours in between. You can understand why she was craving a little downtime.

No Hard Feelings was first unveiled back in March. Set to release on 23 June, Lawrence stars as Maddie, an Uber driver facing bankruptcy. Desperate for money, Maddie accepts a weird Craigslist ad posted by two parents concerned about their introverted 19-year-old son. In exchange for a Buick Regal, Maddie’s job is to become the son’s girlfriend, helping him warm to the idea of sex and adult life. It’s described as a ‘coming of age sex comedy’ which gives a pretty good idea of what to expect tonally. Now, we have a brand new R-rated trailer for the project.

Take a look at No Hard Feelings below.

The film also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Matthew Broderick, and Laura Benanti. While Sony won the release rights, it’s believed that there was an intense bidding war with Apple, Netflix, and Universal Pictures all involved. That certainly bodes well for the film and admittedly, the trailer does look great.

Some have raised their eyebrows at the R-rated comedy, but isn’t that always the case. In the new trailer, we see Lawrence’s Maddie trying out her best seduction techniques including wriggling on the lap of the 19-year-old Percy who just simply isn’t interested in the whole debacle.

Fans are looking forward to the flick. One twitter user wrote, “I’m glad REAL cinema is back,” while another wrote, “Comedic service incoming.” Between this, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Flash, Elemental, and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, June is absolutely stacked.
