Since Hogwarts Legacy’s launch on PC and new-gen consoles, fans have been busy meeting new characters, exploring the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and uncovering secrets within the castle grounds. However, one of the fanbase’s favourite parts of the whole game can only be experienced in the PS5 version. Sorry, Xbox and PC gang.
Before Hogwarts Legacy’s release, it was announced that the game would be getting a timed PlayStation exclusive quest - The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. Given its name, I’m sure it’s no surprise that this side-content is pretty spooky - it takes players into the mannequin-filled basement of a run-down shop. However, the quest will become available for players on other platforms on 10 February 2024, so although there’s a huge wait, it’s not locked away forever. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for this fan-favourite feature.
Before we get into it, take a look at this hilarious Hogwarts Legacy mod which adds PS1 Hagrid to the game.
In case you were unaware, although you can pet the cats in all versions of Hogwarts Legacy, in the PS5 version, they purr through the DualSense controller when you do so, making it by far the best version of the game.

“Whoever decided to make the PS5 controller purr when you pet cats deserves a 1,000% raise. That is all,” Reddit user Perfect_Salad_7566 wrote. “Right? It warms my soul,” replied unicroop. “My cat gets very confused every time and tries to snuggle my controller and it brings me joy,” ImaginationAshamed72 wrote.
Another feature exclusive to the PS5 is the customisable DualSense light - it changes to match players’ Hogwarts house colours, which is a subtle but very pleasant touch. I wonder if that influenced many players’ choice of house?
Hogwarts Legacy will soon be releasing on previous-gen consoles and Nintendo Switch, too. It’s coming to PS4 and Xbox One on 5 May, and Switch on 25 July.
