Gamer 'loses' PS5 to girlfriend after showing her Hogwarts Legacy

Gamer loses his PS5 to his girlfriend after showing her Hogwarts Legacy.

Gamer loses PS5 to their girlfriend after introducing her to Hogwarts Legacy. This is exactly why my wife hasn't played the game yet.

"Games are boring"; "The consequence after buying Hogwarts Legacy: I lost my ps5 to her”, posted Reddit user MrStayRelaxed.

I love to get my family involved in video games, whether it be my wife or son. However, while my son is quite literally a mini-me, my wife has little interest in video games. Well, at least for the most part.

While my son is a keen Fortnite, Minecraft and Ark gamer, from time to time we’ll play some FIFA, WWE 2K or Fall Guys together. There were some times that I might game with my wife, but we’re talking old-school Crazy Taxi on SEGA Dreamcast days.

That being said, my wife has immersed herself in Harry Potter games on PS1 as well as LEGO Harry Potter on PS4. I think you’re seeing a theme here.

Upon the release of Hogwarts Legacy in February 2023, my wife will quite happily watch me explore the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, there has been an odd occasion when she’s said “this is the kind of game I can see myself playing” as I look over with a side eye like Ghost from Modern Warfare 2.

The selfish part of me knows damn well that the moment my wife plays Hogwarts Legacy on my PS5, my gaming time is instantly restricted. It’s why I’m strategically holding out for the PS4 Pro release so that the game can simultaneously be played on two different consoles.

Look, I know I’m selfish, but my wife has books and I have video games. Don’t come at me. That being said, this is exactly why I can totally relate to the Redditor featured in this story.

“Lol same boat dude we both just got a kick out of this post,” replied fellow Reddit user McGarnegle on the thread. “It's me! Haha. I've never played a video game in my life, but now I keep stealing my husband's PS and playing! I think he's just excited he finally got me to play something,” said denali_lass90, who suspiciously sounds like my wife (it’s not).

I know it’s a matter of time, but I’m not sure I can hold out for the PS4 Pro release of Hogwarts Legacy. I’m just not ready to lose my PS5.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As for last-gen and Nintendo Switch owners, you’ll have to be a little more patient. Hogwarts Legacy's PS4 and Xbox One release date is 4 April, and then it arrives for Nintendo Switch on 25 July.
