Is Hogwarts Legacy still coming to last-gen consoles?

The release of Hogwarts Legacy is nearly upon us, however, is it still coming to last-gen consoles?

Hogwarts Legacy inches closer and closer to release, but there are still a few burning questions on our minds.

The release of Hogwarts Legacy is nearly upon us, however, is it still coming to last-gen consoles?

Ever since Hogwarts Legacy was first announced in September 2020, the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts prequel has suffered multiple delays. The most recent of which came in December 2022.

In fact, the most recent delay actually saw more than one new release date. We would consequently get release dates for PC, as well as both PlayStation and Xbox generations, and lastly, the Nintendo Switch.

For its most imminent arrival, Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this week on Friday, 10th February. However, that’s unless you pre-ordered the Collector’s or Deluxe Edition, in which case, your release date is Tuesday, 7th February.

Sadly, all last-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch suffered their own delays. Some eager fans were concerned that the last-gen delays might even result in those ports being cancelled. Hopefully, those versions will not get cancelled and we can all look forward to exploring a virtual Hogwarts.

At the time of writing, Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in the coming months.

When is Hogwarts Legacy's last-gen release date?

Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 4th April 2023. As for the Nintendo Switch, the game will arrive on the 25th July 2023. That’s assuming Hogwarts Legacy suffers no further delays or worse still, is outright cancelled.

In related news, reports have stated that while Hogwarts Legacy could feature upwards of 120 hours worth of gameplay, it could take gamers 70 hours to earn the prestigious Platinum Trophy on PlayStation.

What’s more, social media boycotters have claimed that buying the game is an “ugly look” in response to the hurtful comments made by J.K Rowling's comments towards the trans community.
