Hogwarts Legacy is an entertaining game, albeit with several key flaws.

It’s fair to say that many of us are hoping to see several adjustments made in the game’s upcoming sequel including the addition of a companion system, more minigames, and a less repetitive open-world.

It doesn’t help that Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t received much in the way of post-launch support.

A Photo Mode and a couple of cosmetics aside, devs basically only really ever focused on fixing bugs with both a DLC expansion and director’s cut cancelled.

With Warner Bros. already having teased the franchise’s return for next year, fans of Hogwarts Legacy simply need to bide their time.

You may want to entertain yourself by downloading some new mods for the game. Here are nine of the very best.

9. Spells & Talents (9 New Spells + 29 New Talent Perks)

Spells & Talents (9 New Spells + 29 New Talent Perks) does exactly what it sounds like, adding a ton of new spells and perks to the game that really add some variety into the gameplay, especially if you’re embarking on a second playthrough.

Created by CurseForge user Damien92, the mod introduces the following new spells: Tarantallegra, Aguamenti, Obliviate, Apparition, Protego Diabolica, Protego Diabolica, Protego Maxima, Avis/Oppugno Combo, Call The Death, and Morsmordre.

It also adds the new magical items Liquid Knowledge Potion, Lentosia Potion, and Azkaban’s Chronicles.

8. EXPECTO PATRONUM! (New Quest, Dungeon, Spell, Boss Battle)

No surprises as to what this one includes either. EXPECTRO PATRONUM is a quest mod by CurseForge user Beebub.

“You meet a new classmate in the Hogwarts library who has made a mysterious discovery about an old spellbook,” the synopsis begins. “Join her through a harrowing journey in the Forbidden Forest to fight relentless enemies, solve the mystery of the spellbook, and discover your Patronus.”

It adds the spell Expecto Patronum, a new explorable area of the Forbidden Forest, new Dark Wizard enemies, a new Dementor boss, and a new companion in the form of Beebub Flipendo.

7. Fly In Hogsmeade

This is a simple but effective mod that allows you to fly over and in Hogsmeade, which players will know is a no-fly zone in the game.

Fly In Hogsmeade has been created by CurseForge user BR3TON and really, it’s just helpful when it comes to allowing you to reach your destination in Hogsmeade just a tiny bit faster.

6. Lore Friendly Apparition

Following on with the same theme of making traversal easier is Lore Friendly Apparition by NexusMods user BenBandu.

This mod lets the player apparate to any lore-friendly location, which essentially means that it excludes Hogwarts Castle itself and any unexplored areas.

If you’re finished with the main story and simply need to mop up side content to get that 100%, this mod is perfect for speeding things up.

5. AnyTime Companion

Ever wished that Avalanche had implemented a working companion system? Well, NexusMods user IMrPez has done it for you with AnyTime Companion.

The mod introduces an in-game menu which will allow you to pick from a wide array of companions who can join you as you explore Hogwarts Legacy’s open-world.

4. House Point System

If you yearn to feel the same kind of victory Harry Potter did when Gryffindor won the House Cup, the House Point System mod is for you.

This one is by CurseForge modder Damien92 - a recurring name on this list.

“The Hogwarts House Point System is a dynamic and immersive gameplay mechanic designed to reflect player behavior and simulate NPC activity across the in-game school year,” the synopsis begins. “Points are awarded or deducted based on moral choices, auto-generated events, and timed tasks — encouraging diverse playstyles and competition between the four houses.”

There are daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that players can complete.

Daily tasks run from 6.30am to 9.30pm, following in-game time. There are roughly 90 options. In comparison, there are 40 weekly quests which entail combat, research, or social collaboration. Finally, there are 10 monthly tasks.

The House Cup is awarded at the end of every in-game season and can be viewed in Hogwarts’ Trophy Room. It’s a cool mod packed with content.

3. Open Common Rooms

Within Hogwarts Legacy, you can only enter the common room of the house you’re playing as.

If you yearn to explore the others and don’t want to complete four separate playthroughs, you might want to download Open Common Rooms by CurseForge’s Cronky.

This one simply grants you access to Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw’s common rooms regardless of which house you’re playing as.

2. Azkaban

If you play as the Hufflepuff house, you’ll visit Azkaban during your unique house quest. Other houses, however, never pay the famed prison a visit.

You could change that by downloading Azkaban by CurseForge user nathdev which adds a punishing new twist to Hogwarts Legacy.

There are no real consequences to using unforgivable curses in Hogwarts Legacy. With Azkaban though, using Avada Kedvara, Imperius, or Cruciatus will send you straight to Azkaban.

A life sentence awaits you, so you better stay away from those evil spells.

1. NPC Schedule Enhanced

Finally, I’ll finish with something that simply boosts the game’s immersion and realism of the open-world.

NPC Schedule Enhanced by NexusMods user Khione95 applies a number of subtle changes that make the movements of the game’s NPCs more natural.

For example, students and professors will go to classes during the week, stopping by the Great Hall for dinner before returning to their quarters.

They’ll visit Hogsmeade on the weekend, with open-world vendors shutting up shop at night.

You may not have noticed but the movements of students are, as it stands, a bit random. This adds a sense of routine which makes the world feel slightly more populated.

As I said, Hogwarts Legacy is rumoured to make a return next year, so these mods should help you kill some time ahead of then until we discover what’s next for this franchise.
