Henry Cavill prefers staying at home gaming to going out

Henry Cavill is a true man of the people. He may be a Hollywood superstar, occasional Witcher, and ex-superhero, but at the end of the day, he’s just like us. A big ol’ nerd. We absolutely love to see it.

Cavill’s had a pretty eventful couple of months. It was previously revealed that the actor would not return as Clark Kent in the DCU, formerly the DCEU, as James Gunn is rebooting the franchise with a younger version of the character. A few months ago, Cavill then revealed that he’d be exiting his role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher, with the upcoming third season serving as his last. Cavill didn’t exactly explain why, but many assume that he didn’t agree with the direction the writers were taking the show in. Cavill has several other projects in the pipeline but the man also loves his downtime. In fact, he recently confessed something I think many of us can relate to.

Take a look at the season three trailer for The Witcher below.

In an interview with GQ, Cavill expressed that he much prefers staying in to game over going out. Big mood. He explained, “Every time I step out my front door, I’m hyper aware. Even if I’m not looking terrible, you still realise there are people taking sneaky photos of you, because that’s what people like to do. And then they put them on the internet and you see them on Instagram and you’re like, ‘Oh my god.’”

He continued, “At home, I get to sit playing games for ridiculous amounts of hours and escape there, because going outside has the opposite effect.” I don’t have to contend with fans and paparazzi outside my door, but I think we can all agree that time spent gaming is refreshing every now and then.

If you’re mourning Cavill’s departure from The Witcher, don’t worry. We have one season left to go before Liam Hemsworth joins the show as the new Geralt - and the season three trailer was dropped very recently. Volume One will air on 29 June, followed by Volume Two on 27 July.
