Taking on the role of Harry Potter must be a pretty daunting experience, with hundreds of millions of expectant fans worldwide who are all expecting to see a faithful version of the character that they recognise from the books.
The pressure that comes from that expectation is going to be fairly immense, and nobody knows that better than now-beloved actor Daniel Radcliffe, who now defines the character for a generation of fans.
Radcliffe took on the role of Harry Potter at just 11 years old, turning 12 by the time it released in 2001. At that point, the studio was certainly expecting the movie to be a success, but few could have predicted just how famous the three children would become overnight.
By the time the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 came out, Radcliffe had just turned 21, with his turn as the Boy Who Lived defining his entire adolescence, education and relationship with the outside world.

Who better, then, to get in touch with the boy who is about to set out on a similar journey, as part of HBO's upcoming television adaptation of the book series.

Daniel Radcliffe Reaches Out to New Harry Potter Actor
As first reported by Brad Norton at Dexerto.com, Radcliffe recently appeared on Good Morning America to talk about several topics, before discussing Dominic McLaughlin, the child actor who is currently filming in the role.

“I sent him a letter and he sent me a very sweet note back,” Radcliffe revealed. “I just wanted to write to him and say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did – I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time'."
Radcliffe went on to confirm that he knows several persons working on the production and has seen some of the early promotional images himself.
Doing so made him feel protective over the youngsters, as he went on to detail, "They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, ‘Oh it’s crazy I was doing that.’ But it’s also incredibly sweet, and I hope they’re having a great time.”
If it's any consolation to Radcliffe, it's difficult to see how the HBO series is going to have quite the same seismic impact as the films. That said, if it sticks around as long as intended, then we'll certainly be seeing a lot more of all the child actors in the show.
