The Halo franchise is officially returning this month, although you may want to temper your expectations (considering how angry fans are about said official return).
It’s been almost four years since we last saw Halo back on our screens, following the release of Halo Infinite in 2021… unless you count the Halo TV series back in 2022 (although I’m sure most of you would rather forget that one existed).
Well, Microsoft is bringing the franchise back in a big way this month, but perhaps not in the way fans wanted them to.
That’s because, announced by Epic Games themselves, several new Spartan skins are coming to Fortnite on August 7.

“Yeah, we called the experts in for this one…” revealed the official Fortnite Twitter account.
“UNSC spartans FOR THE VICTORY!! (and in the new Battle Pass). Get them August 7!”
Oh, neat, a cool little collab. I’m sure fans are excited for that, right?
Uhh, nope… at least not based on the comments over on the r/xbox subreddit.

“Yes, very good. Imagine not getting this. What if the industry had wasted its time on an ODST 2 where you drop into a battle Royale mode,” commented user DeeGayJator.
“That wouldn't generate any hype or merrymaking whatsoever…”
“Imo disgusting. Hopefully Microsoft got a nice check from epic though for the colab. I don’t see how Fortnite always gets praise for there crazy mtx/push on skins and colabs but every other game gets hate for those things”, replied user Practical-Aside890.
“But hey if spending 20$ on a skin bring people enjoyment then so be it. whatever floats there boat. But don’t act surprised when more games do the same because the money brought in.”

Look, I get it. Halo Infinite was kind of a disappointment for a lot of people, and they were ready to move on to the next Halo pretty much as soon as it dropped.
Unfortunately, this collab really has no bearing on when a new Halo game is coming.
For now, as much as it pains me to say it, you’re going to have to make do with your new Fortnite skins.
