Halo 2 is one of the greatest first-person shooters ever made, yet somehow this overhaul makes it even better.

My all-time favourite Halo game is and likely always will be Halo 3 but even I can’t deny Halo 2 deserves all of the flowers. The only glaring issue I can think of is the game’s Legendary difficulty, which wasn’t well-balanced and is a nightmare to replay especially in co-op.

I know many Halo fans would agree with that so what if I told you there’s an overhaul mod that’ll fix everything?

Halo 2 REBALANCED does exactly what it says on the tin, rebalances the game for a fairer but still challenging experience and accomplishing what Bungie unfortunately couldn’t do at the time. That’s no shade towards Bungie either, there was a significant time crunch during Halo 2’s development so it’s remarkable that it turned out as well as it did.

That’s not all the mod does though. If you watch the trailer for Halo 2 REBALANCED on YouTube you’ll notice a few additions to the game that aren’t there in the original release.

The overhaul mod will be “expanding on gameplay, overhauling the difficulty, adding cut and new content alike, and giving the game a whole new layer of polish.”

It looks incredible and if you want to try it out for yourself you can do so for free on Steam. The mod is available through the Steam Workshop for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

After some of the latest developments in the Halo franchise the fans could really do with a win so I’d urge you to check this mod out and give it some love.

Players have been impressed with it so far, as the mod was shared to Reddit and incited a lot of comments talking about how exciting it’ll be to play. One such comment said “CE Rebalanced is better than CE in my opinion. Can't wait for this!”

“Need this asap” said another before one more added that it “seems like it's about time for a Halo 2 replay.”

With talk of a Halo: Combat Evolved remake on the horizon it could open the door to a remake of Halo 2 as well.

If it ever comes to fruition I’d hope Halo Studios would look back at Bungie’s original plans for the game and integrate some of that cut-content that never made it into the final release.
