Fans think they’ve spotted additional hints for Grand Theft Auto VI, buried in Rockstar Games’ website code.

October is expected to be a big month for Grand Theft Auto fans. After all, it’s speculated that Rockstar Games is gearing up for the big reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Take a look at this incredible Vice City remaster mod below.

Some fans were adamant that a reveal would happen during the 10th anniversary of GTA V, but were left heartbroken when they realised there wasn’t going to be an announcement, as well as the realisation they’d all aged 10 years waiting for the next game to come out.

While most have been monitoring Rockstar’s Twitter for suspicious activity, others have gone deeper, checking in on the developer’s official website, and deep-diving into its code.

One fan, slaik22, shared some interesting finds, namely some odd names buried within the website’s code. They said: “Over the course of a year, I periodically checked the site for updates in the code and today in the CSS-styles I noticed a picture with the unusual name GTA_CITY_STORIES. It didn't exist before. What do you think this could mean?”

Fans immediately started theorising, with many believing it was another sign that Rockstar is gearing up for something big. “Seeing updates on web is always a good thing, they are definitely cooking some stuff," read one comment, while another said, “Definitive editions of VC stories and LC stories?” Another suggestion read, “Probably a Vice and Liberty City Stories port on PS4."

Unfortunately, the user later updated the post, saying: “As I found out, this class is used for an array of elements 'libertycitystories' and 'vicecitystories' and is apparently needed to fix a certain bug. Sorry for disturbing.”

Looks like it’s back to the drawing board for GTA VI theorists, though many wish Rockstar would just break the silence already and give them something to go off, especially since online rumours and 'leaks' have led to some heated interactions online, including one leaker getting death threats, forcing them to deactivate their social media accounts.
