Tom Sizemore, the American actor who voiced Sonny Forelli in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, has died at the age of 61.

The actor starred in a number of notable movies and shows during his career, including Heat, Natural Born Killers, Saving Private Ryan and Twin Peaks. He won a number of awards (including Best Supporting Actor for his role in the horror movie C.L.E.A.N. at the Vegas Movie Awards), and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Bobby Batton in the crime drama series Witness Protection.

As The Hollywood Reporter writes, Sizemore suffered a stroke and brain aneurysm in February.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of my big brother Tom,” Sizemore’s brother, Paul Sizemore said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). “He was larger than life. He has influenced my life more than anyone I know. He was talented, loving, giving and could keep you entertained endlessly with his wit and storytelling ability. I am devastated he is gone and will miss him always.”

Despite his successful career, Sizemore had issues with substance abuse, and in 2003, he was sentenced to six months in prison after being convicted of domestic violence against his ex girlfriend, Heidi Fleiss (via the BBC).

Over on Twitter, Rockstar Games paid tribute to the actor: “Tom Sizemore’s effortless cool and phenomenal character work was an inspiration to all of us here at Rockstar Games long before his star performance as Sonny Forelli in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Rest In Peace, Tom.”

Gamers have been paying their respects, too: “Thanks for the awesome memories Tom, RIP,” wrote @lllumiNatey. “Always heartbreaking when we lose such a talent. Rest in peace,” tweeted @YangyYoung. “This makes me so sad… such a very iconic villain. He was also a highlight in Saving Private Ryan,” said @FatB0Y7050.

Here at GAMINGbible, our thoughts go out to Sizemore’s family and friends at this difficult time.
