At this point, it's difficult to overstate just how much players are expecting from GTA VI when it releases in May next year (hopefully). From the epic story to the gorgeous visuals, many are expecting it to be the grandest and most ambitious gaming experience of all time once the dust around its initial launch has settled.
That said, there are also set to be a serious amount of tangible updates to the mechanics and systems that we have become so used to over the last dozen years with GTA V.
As first reported by Gameranx, well-known dataminer Tez2 has shared some insight into the upcoming game's weapon wheel and some big changes could be on the way.
Over on the GTA forums, Tez2 said the following on changes to the existing weapon wheel system, "It did. I believe last year they experimented with smaller wheels, or sub-wheels, within the big weapon wheel. But this may have since been scrapped, or updated to a different style."

So whilst this isn't exactly full confirmation that the alterations will be in play when the game does go live, it does show that Rockstar Games is actively looking at making major changes to the way the system works.
If you're one of the three people who stopped playing GTA after the fourth mainline game, then you might not even know about weapon wheels, which were bizarrely introduced in the oft-forgotten Chinatown Wars for the PlayStation Portable.
The system debuted into the main series with GTA V, allowing players to choose between weapons in eight specific slots: Handguns, Machine Guns, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Melee, Shotguns, Heavy Weapons, Throwable Weapons. The wheel also includes a bunch of helpful information relating to ammo for each weapon and clip size.
The way it worked in GTA V is actually one of the better weapon implementation systems in any GTA game, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement, and sub-wheels could be a good way of doing that in GTA VI.

Specifically, they add a further layer of organisation once players get to the point where they have a huge arsenal of guns, allowing them to access and swap out their favourites in the main wheel more easily.
Equally, there could be further changes to the game's weapons at play, that necessitate this additional labelling to prevent everything becoming a confusing mess.
Whatever does happen, we can't wait to see what they've been cooking up next year.
