GTA 6 Second Delay Has Gamers More On Edge Than Ever

Say it ain't so!

GTA VI rumours are making the rounds that the highly anticipated game is set for a second delay.

No question, the next entry in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series is set to be one of the biggest launches in video game history. When GTA VI finally graces us with its presence, we expect it to smash multiple sales and concurrent player records.

Before we were treated to its first trailer in December 2023, the infamous GTA VI gameplay leaks were nearly impossible to avoid on social media, all thanks to video game algorithms and whatnot.

Along with that tasty first trailer, it was also revealed that GTA VI would be released sometime in 2025. However, at around the same time as the second trailer, a delay was announced into 2026.

Anyone who is familiar with Rockstar Games knows that release date delays are always likely. Sure, that is the case with most franchises outside of GTA, but they feel more prominent when it relates to the Red Dead Redemption developer.

That being said, there’s no question that Rockstar Games always makes the most out of the extra development time, and I’m sure that GTA VI will be no exception.

So, it should come as no surprise that rumblings are making the social media rounds that GTA VI may get a second delay, but to be fair, it’s not by much (if it happens).

“Tom Henderson says he’s heard 'rumblings' that GTA VI will get delayed to October 2026,” tweeted SynthPotato, sharing a clip of the rumour in question.

“Personally, I think it’s too early for that to be decided, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens one bit. A May release date still feels weird, but I hope they hit it.”

“No evidence of another delay whatsoever in the slightest, just these guys have a feeling,” replied Adam_Couser.

“I do trust Tom Henderson, but the game is like eight months away; there’s no way any substantial analysis at Rockstar can conclude the game needs a delay this early,” added SynthPotato. “We’ll know in 2026.”

“Another GTA VI delay? This is what I’ll do to whoever is responsible for these delays,” exclaimed MrkelsGame, sharing a clip of WWE’s Bron Breaker delivering a devastating spear to poor Calito.

“It'll be released in September in the usual Rockstar slot,” said Zuby_Tech.

“If this happens, it will be no surprise,” declared Dezvazio.

As always, all unconfirmed rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

At the time of writing, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
