GTA 6 Release Date Milestone Reached, Brace Yourselves

This makes me feel disgustingly old

Grand Theft Auto VI just passed a milestone that makes me feel decrepit and ancient, but on the plus side, it will be the last time it celebrates said milestone ever again.

Hopefully, anyway. I mean, there’s always a chance that it does get delayed. Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to scare you by using the “d”-word there.

Do you remember what happened on September 17, 2013?

If you have a social life of any kind, you likely have absolutely no idea.

If you don’t make a habit of touching grass on the odd occasion, you may have immediately remembered exactly which date Grand Theft Auto V released on.

That’s right, somehow Rockstar Games’ 2013 entry in the franchise is already twelve years old, and the mere thought of said milestone is making my back hurt.

Obviously, people are being a bit tongue-in-cheek about the anniversary by poking fun at the overly-long development of Grand Theft Auto VI, but others over on GTA 6 Countdown’s Twitter post already seem genuinely nostalgic for GTA V (even though you’ve all still got close to a year until it’s made redundant).

“12 years later and I’m still finding new ways to crash my car into the ocean and laugh my way through Los Santos”, commented user @onlyonepacman.

“Here’s to the countless hours of mayhem and memories — GTA 5, you’re legendary. Can’t wait for GTA 6 to drop and raise the chaos level even higher!”

“Gta online with friends when it first came out was such a great time”, replied user @yeti_brian.

“GTA 5 overstayed it’s welcome with me a long time ago, but you can’t deny its sales even in the last few years”, commented user @aboveall1996.

Of course, we’re not quite out of the woods yet, so I can’t help but feel that waxing nostalgic like this is a little bit premature.

I’m not saying that Rockstar Games will definitely delay Grand Theft Auto VI, but rather that there’s still a chance that they might. We haven’t really heard anything from them since the release of trailer 2, so there’s no real way to know for sure if things are still on track.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wish Grand Theft Auto V a happy thirteenth birthday next year, but just don’t come crying to me if you’ve jinxed it by getting ahead of yourselves. In the meantime, I dunno, treat yourselves to some more Shark Cards or something. I’m sure that’ll help speed up development.
