Red Dead Redemption 2 just got a massive update that should keep us busy for the immediate future while we wait for news on GTA VI.

Originally released in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time with an incredible Metacritic score of 97, more than earning its “Must-Play” accolade, placing it firmly amongst some of Rockstar Games’ best properties.

That being said, as great as Red Dead Redemption 2 is, its multiplayer offering Red Dead Online may have fallen below many fans' expectations, especially when compared to GTA Online which has benefitted from a wealth of free expansion-sized content updates.

However, that’s not to say that Red Dead Online isn't fun, because it most certainly is, even more so when you get a group of outlaw buddies together to cause all kinds of havoc in its huge Wild West world.

To help get hyped for the Christmas season, Rockstar Games has deployed the latest free update with the ‘Call to Arms’ event, available right now. By participating in the event, players will be gifted with bonus XP, in-game currency, DLC and more.

For example, you will earn double RDO$ and Gold by playing the ‘Merry Call to Arms’ mode which will require you to protect Christmas-themed hideouts and settlements such as the Adler Ranch from waves of pesky bandits.

What’s more, you’ll also be gifted with the Evans Repeater Variant and the Krampus Shotgun for playing Red Dead Online between 10 December and 7 January 2025.

You can also earn free cosmetic items by competing in various weekly events for its featured series. Not only will you gain double XP and currency, but also discounts from its in-game stores such as 50% off a stable slot for your horse.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online are out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
