The original 2025 release date for GTA VI may have been confirmed by Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
Following months of rumours and leaks, Rockstar Games finally released the first trailer for the highly anticipated GTA VI in December 2023, and with it came a very vague 2025 launch window.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” reads the synopsis of GTA VI.

“But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
An exact date was never announced, although Rockstar did eventually narrow down the window to fall / autumn.
However, following a delay and a newly confirmed release date of 26 May 2026, Rockstar Games revealed the second trailer for GTA VI earlier this month, which sent social media into a frenzy.
Many gamers have been wondering when GTA VI was supposed to have been released in 2025. Well, Take-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick has hinted at the original month that GTA VI was scheduled to launch.

As reported by videotechuk_, when speaking to news outlet CNBC, Zelnick revealed that GTA VI had only been delayed by less than six months.
If true, that would have meant that GTA VI was going to be released sometime in November 2025. Interestingly, both GTA V (2014) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2019) were released in November on PC.
Sadly, GTA VI hasn't been announced for PC yet, but we do know that it will be releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Hopefully, it suffers no further delays.
