Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive held its annual shareholder meeting earlier this week and although that may not seem important to most of us, it did reveal some more news on the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Despite still being over eight months until it is expected to be released, Grand Theft Auto VI has already given fans quite a turbulent few years.
From major leaks back in 2022 to a delay earlier this year which would see the Rockstar game pushed forward to May 2026 from Fall 2025, it must be smooth sailing from here on out right?
Well, when it comes to updates on Grand Theft Auto VI, they mostly come down to Take-Two Interactive or its CEO Strauss Zelnick to be more precise.

That is why fans were keeping their eyes open yesterday when the Rockstar parent company hosted its latest annual shareholding meeting.
Although most of the meeting provided no meaningful information about, well, anything, Take-Two did finally mention the golden phrase: Grand Theft Auto VI.
According to Zelnick, Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track for a 26 May 2026 release and that Rockstar “will share more details in the future”.
The end.

There is no denying that a bit of more information would have been received well but it is still reassuring to learn that the highly anticipated game is still on track and is not facing any more delays.
This comes just days after Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson revealed that, in his opinion, GTA VI would be delayed until at least October 2026.
“To be honest, I don’t think that it is going to release in May,” he shared on a recent podcast.
“All the rumblings and so on seem to suggest it. Not good enough to corroborate a report on it but I just think that Rockstar are just such perfectionists that, to me personally, I think we’re looking at October.”

Of course, this is just one insider’s opinion and one that is seemingly untrue if Take-Two’s recent report is to be believed.
However, with many fans believing that a May 2026 release is just too good to be true, we can take all of the reassurance we can.
Grand Theft Auto VI is on track to be the biggest game release of all time with it being over a decade since its latest entry, Grand Theft Auto V, was released.
So let us hope we will not be waiting too much longer to finally get our hands on it.

Luckily, Take-Two Interactive has plans for an earnings call some time in November and if we are lucky, we will receive yet another update and maybe even a trailer…
