Fans are hyped for the release of GTA VI, but some are torn over its map.
When Rockstar Games releases the long-awaited next entry in its Grand Theft Auto series, it will no doubt send social media into a frenzy for weeks on end, if not months (and then some).
It doesnt matter which entry in the GTA series it is; it’s a massive event for the video game industry, and GTA VI will be no exception. If anything, GTA VI will likely be the biggest video game release of all time.
Pretty much with each new release, the maps in GTA have not only increased in size, but they’ve evolved in terms of the number of missions and activities it has, NPCs going about their daily business, and more.

So, as the world of Grand Theft Auto becomes more sophisticated, it makes sense that GTA VI’s map might evolve to help players navigate.
“What do you all think about an interactive 3D map?” asked Redditor nova_prime91.
“I'm curious to know your opinion on an interactive 3D map like Google Earth, where you can zoom in, rotate the camera, and see the reliefs of mountains and the shapes of skyscrapers across the city.”

As expected, fellow members of the thread responded to share their views.
“I didn't think of that, and I’d be down for it,” agreed StingingGamer.
“I think it will suck console resources,” replied CYZANE.
“Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of 3D maps in games. I just don't like it when the 3D terrain and buildings obstruct your view and make it hard to see where something is,” replied BringMeBurntBread. “Even if you could rotate it, I'd much rather just have a regular 2D top-down map.”

“I would like an app on your phone that you can download and have a 3D map of only Vice City, because it's a big bustling city,” explained Unbidden3940.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
