Grand Theft Auto fans are hoping that GTA VI will bring back a forgotten video game art that retro fans will appreciate.

Without question, GTA VI will be the biggest video game release in 2026, and with it smashing numbers on YouTube alone, I have no doubts that the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series will break all sorts of entertainment industry records, not just in the world of video games.

While the Rockstar Games series existed in the 1990s, it perhaps didn't become truly mainstream until the release of GTA III in 2001 on the PlayStation 2. As soon as this groundbreaking game arrived, it set a new bar for what the industry expects from an open-world action game.

Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of GTA VI and considering that this is a game that generates incredible buzz, there’s still not a great deal that we know about the game.

Sure, we know that it will star the criminal couple, Jason and Lucia, and it will take us back to the sunny sights of Vice City, a location inspired by Miami in the United States.

Some believe that GTA VI could be the biggest game in the series, in terms of map size, but it’s hearsay at this point.

That being said, one thing that some fans would love to see return in GTA VI is secret weapons, which can only be found in a particular series entry.

What Fun Weapons Will There Be in GTA VI?

“Do you think GTA VI will feature unique and unusual secret weapons hidden around the map?” asked Redditor BiroBaby, sharing an image of a katana from 2004’s GTA: San Andreas.

“I think loot is going to be more of a feature in this GTA, so yes, absolutely,” agreed BreastUsername.

“I hope so. The katana, chainsaw and flamethrower need to be in the game, just like in the original Vice City,” replied Mister_Frowdo.

“Bring the dildo back as a weapon,” declared Altruistic-Cat-4193, a weapon that really existed in GTA: San Andreas.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see to find out what wonderful weapons GTA VI will treat us to later this year.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC port is yet to be announced.
