Grand Theft Auto VI fans are already setting themselves up for disappointment, because they’re trying to compare the potential load times for Rockstar Games’ upcoming hit against a new game that it is definitely, 100% not going to beat.
In a thread over on the r/GTA6 subreddit, one user decided to ask fans’ opinions on GTA VI’s load times… by comparing it to the borderline instantaneous load times of Death Stranding 2.
In quite possibly the most levelheaded exchange I have ever seen on r/GTA6, fans concluded that GTA VI probably won’t come close.
“I feel like some people are going to be disappointed if GTA 6 isn't better than every game released before it in every aspect”, commented user One-Conference1531.

“I can already see there being nonstop comparisons with RDR2, Cyberpunk and DS2 when it's released.”
“I could see it still taking a while to load. I mean even GTA V takes a while to load on the PS5. Way faster than previous gens but still a few seconds. Not instantaneous like this”, replied user TheTechPoTaToCHIP.
“And to be honest, it's not really a bad thing considering Rockstar games tend to literally just load once at the start of a session anyway. Unless we're loading a save or fast traveling, we only ever see a loading screen once so it won't be a big deal if it's a few seconds.”
Now to be fair to Death Stranding 2, I do think the commenters are slightly downplaying exactly how impressive its loading times are.

That being said, yeah, Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t gonna come anywhere close to this.
I think that loading in the AI of all the individual NPCs is going to tank the loading times drastically by itself, and that’s not even taking into account all of the models for stuff like the buildings and the cars.
I’m sure it’ll still be fast, just temper your expectations a little bit.
