Finally, Grand Theft Auto VI has surfaced on both the Xbox and PlayStation stores.
I’m sure you can imagine just how much that’s delighted fans who are quick to lap up any crumb Rockstar Games throws.
GTA VI actually surfaced on the PlayStation Store several months ago, shortly following the reveal of the game’s second trailer.
Weirdly, the same couldn’t be said for the Xbox Store.

It only appeared on that particular store in the last week or so, and it might be interesting to read into why.
Could the rumour that Sony has exclusive console marketing rights for the game carry some weight?
This certainly adds fuel to the fire.
For now though, the main takeaway is that the highly anticipated title is available on both stores.

As for what this means for gamers, well, it means a couple of things.
You can wishlist the title which means you’ll be notified when it’s made available for pre-order.
Perhaps most significantly, now that the title does have a placeholder on the store, Rockstar is prepped to open pre-orders.
That’s not to say that they’re set to land imminently, but we’re certainly in a better position.

Heck, you can even download a GTA VI file now on Xbox.
It’s only around 300MB and essentially preps installation files for when the full game finally arrives.
Once installed, if you attempt to launch it, it’ll simply show GTA VI’s key art for a few seconds.
Personally, I don’t think it’s yet worth the space it’ll take up but if you really want GTA VI sitting amongst your current games to drum up some hype, then this is how you can achieve that.

As I said, GTA VI fans are thrilled about this latest development, noticing that Rockstar has updated it’s official site with wishlists now leading to both the Xbox and PlayStation stores.
“S**t starting to get real,” wrote Reddit user ScottRans0m.
“Makes me believe more that the game won’t get delayed again,” added OutlandishnessOk6696, making another excellent point.
PC users, like AlexGlezS, were slightly less enthusiastic: “Cool! Wake me up when I can wishlist PC version.”

You can’t blame them; Rockstar is still yet to reveal a PC version of the game and feasibly, it may not land until 2027.
As for when we should expect to hear more about the console versions of the game, Rockstar has always been a tricky studio to predict.
They don’t stick to major showcases, for example, to make their announcements, instead dropping trailers on random Tuesdays.
Given that GTA VI isn’t set to land until five months into 2026, almost six, I personally don’t think we’ll see anything new surface before the very end of the year.
