GTA 6 Leak Reveals Game Isn't Content Ready, Third Delay Likely

It's what we all expected

I do apologise in advance for the upset I’m about to cause; it’s very possible that Grand Theft Auto VI may be subject to a third delay.

It’s something that, fair to say, many of us have been anticipating might happen.

As it stands, GTA VI is currently due to land on 19 November which is around 12 months or so after its original window of fall 2025.

You may think that provides Rockstar Games with plenty of time to carry out the game’s final polish but by all accounts, we’re not quite at that stage yet.

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the only insider I actually trust when it comes to GTA VI, the game isn’t yet content ready.

On The Ringer-Verse podcast, Schreier offered fresh insight on the game, explaining that to his knowledge, the game was not content complete.

What that means is that developers are still finalising missions, for example, or deciding which quests, characters, locations, and Easter eggs actually make it into the final build.

It’s only when all of those factors have been decided on that the game can enter the final stage which is what we usually refer to as when it’s ‘polished’. Bugs are eradicated as GTA VI will go through rigorous quality testing.

This Isn’t Great News For The Game’s Release Date

November is a long way off, so the fact that the game isn’t content ready doesn’t guarantee a third delay by any means, but it’s most definitely of concern.

Schreier further explained that it’s tricky to say whether a delay is on the cards, but added that he doesn’t believe anyone at Rockstar is fully confident about the current 19 November release date.

He further added that Rockstar will only want to launch the perfect game with Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, being hugely reliant on the success of this game.

Delaying it again rather than releasing something unfinished would be the company’s preference.

Schreier went on to conclude that Take-Two’s fiscal, or financial, year ends in late March 2027, so the game could be delayed into next year whilst still pleasing stakeholders by falling within the fiscal year.

He also noted that PlayStation is the main focus of Rockstar’s efforts with Sony’s launch plans built around GTA VI. You have to wonder whether that means we’ll get any PS5 exclusive DLC.

No Sign of Pre-Orders

It’s a tricky one to analyse. You have to remember that Red Dead Redemption 2 also wasn’t content ready until pretty late in the game.

Actor Roger Clark was involved in motion capture just months before the game’s release.

With GTA VI though, I do think it’s of concern that we’ve not seen any raw gameplay, nor do pre-orders appear to be opening up any time soon.

It certainly feels as if Rockstar is saving those things for the final marketing push when they’re confident of meeting a release date.

Until both of those things surface, I don’t see the fans having much faith in 19 November.
