I don't think anyone could argue against the fact that Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated video game of all time.

More than The Elder Scrolls VI, or Hogwarts Legacy, or The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's upcoming sequel - GTA VI is the game that keeps fans up at night. Unsurprising, given it's the follow-up to one of the most wildly successful video games ever made, and we had to wait eight years just for Rockstar Games to announce the damn thing is in development.

Check out everything we know about GTA VI so far below:

With Rockstar now fully shifting most of its focus onto developing GTA VI, we can assume the game will probably release this, um, decade. Of course I probably don't need to tell you that the longer we're made to wait, the more gamers will convince themselves GTA VI is the second coming of Christ in video game. It's a pressure Rockstar itself is really starting to feel.

Late last week Rockstar finally officially confirmed what we've all kind of known for ages: that it's stepping away from major updates for Red Dead Online.

Explaining this is so the team can focus on the new Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar acknowledged that it understands “more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for GTA VI to be the best it can possibly be”. As far as ambitions go, making sure GTA VI absolutely slaps is a pretty good one.

As for when we'll actually see GTA VI? Well, that's anyone's guess at this point. Analysts, supposed insiders, and uncles who work at Nintendo have insisted anywhere from 2023 to 2026. We simply don't know yet, and will have to wait for Rockstar to let us know when it's ready to show us what it's been working on. I really do believe it's going to be something special, though.
