GTA 6 price tag won't include GTA Online 2, says insider

They want us to buy two separate games, AND Shark Cards? Jog on mate.

The internet is ablaze with rumours that Grand Theft Auto VI will cost upwards of $100 at launch, but one insider says that Rockstar Games has devised a way to lower the price - by splitting the singleplayer and online into two separate purchases.

Thank you in advance to Dexerto's Michael Gwilliam for originally spotting this one!

Reputable Rockstar Games leaker Tez2 has stated in a recent forum post that they believe GTA VI and GTA Online 2 will be split into two separate, standalone titles, in a bid to lower the total price of the game.

“VI will be the first game where online is sold separately at launch, while story mode will be part of the full package that covers both. They will have to factor the online standalone price into the total cost,” Tez2 stated in a post on the GTA Forums site.

“T2 could benefit by pricing the online standalone lower, making it accessible for those who can't afford the $70 or $80 price. Eventually, those players will upgrade to access the story mode, so that's a win-win for them.”

Naturally, players aren’t exactly happy about this and have dubbed the idea “highway robbery” - but Tez2 thinks it’s potentially a “win-win” for all parties.

“This also opens an opportunity, some players may be eager to access the story mode but can't afford the upgrade price too,” they continued.

“That's when they could slide in GTA+, and offer Game Pass-like access. They'll net extra profits from players who keep subscribing instead of saving for the upgrade. Another win-win for T2.”

On one hand, I get where they’re coming from. If you’re not interested in GTA Online 2, then you can play the single-player without having to unnecessarily inflate the cost of your purchase.

On the other hand, good lord, stuff is already expensive enough. Aren’t you making enough money on those Shark Cards as it is, you ghouls?
