Grand Theft Auto players are concerned GTA VI is going to be a major cash grab from Rockstar Games.
GTA VI is going to be one of the biggest video game launches of all-time, largely due to just how long it’s taken us to get to the point of launch.
With the game being delayed from a late 2025 release date to Spring 2026 fans are going feral over finally getting their hands on the game, but some are tempering their expectations in a big way.
With GTA VI’s story mode will also come a new Online mode, and many are worried it’ll be just as egregious as GTA V: Online.

Now I loved GTA V: Online back in the day, and still log on every now and then to see what’s new, especially the new Undead Nightmare-like mode that just dropped.
That said it had a glaring issue and that was the in-game economy, which offered little rewards for actually playing the game and would quietly suggest Shark Cards (microtransactions) to players wanting to experience everything the mode had to offer.
Fans have shared their concerns over the new iteration of GTA: Online on Reddit, and they’re not hopeful it’ll be any different.
“Story mode won't be. Online will definitely be a cashgrab. But it'll still be fine for a year or two” said one commenter.

Another added “Online will definitely be like that. I can't really see them touching single player with that though.”
In my humble opinion the best case scenario is GTA VI: Online, or whatever it’s called, turns out exactly the same as GTA V: Online. Sure it’ll be annoying having to grind missions just to afford a cool car but as long as the microtransactions don’t touch the singleplayer, I think we’re golden.
That said I wouldn’t mind an actual Undead Nightmare mode as a special singleplayer DLC, or any DLC for that matter.
