Combining the “need for speed” with “potion throwing”, this brand-new Steam release is taking fans by surprise, even racking up a 93% approval rating.

After all, buried amongst titles that fall under both the AA and AAA categories are some hidden gems that are guaranteed to offer you hours of fun despite being almost unheard of.

That is where Steam comes in, with the PC storefront regularly showcasing these underrated titles that deserve their time to shine.

Such is the case with Potion Knight, “an intense and up-tempo first-person shooter” developed by Studio Knight Shift.

Released on 22 January, Potion Knight is set in the harsh, snow-ridden village of Cronenberg where an unorthodox alchemist has been experimenting.

As a result, animals have been fused with weapons and now fight under his command.

Now with each creature wanting blood - yours to be exact, it will be up to you to defeat them and kill the corrupt alchemist in order to free Cronenberg from his evil grasp.

With "chaotic yet satisfying” gameplay, Potion Knight offers everything you may want in a first-person shooter and with procedurally generated levels, no two runs will be the same.

Featuring PSX-inspired graphics, you will face enemies from “illuminated manuscripts of old” but fear not, as you too will be able to wield potions which can be used to kill them.

However, you had better hope that your alchemy skills are up to par as throwing the wrong potion could result in disaster.

Players Have Been Loving This Potion-Throwing Extravaganza

Since its release last week, Potion Knight has already garnered a ‘Positive’ rating on Steam and reviews are praising the game’s replayability, smooth movement, and “slip ‘n slide ability”.

“Based on my first playthrough, I can tell I'm going to be playing this game for a while, it's incredibly fun!! Highly recommend,” one positive review reads.

Another agreed, adding, “While being a relatively short game, the replayability is astounding.

“I found myself restarting my run several, if not, countless times to test the different build combinations I could obtain with the scroll, all while trying my best to achieve the highest score I could at the fastest pace that I could…

“I highly recommend it to those that prefer fast paced games.

“If the game were to be any longer or contain more features, I would happily have paid money for it.”

That is because Potion Knight is absolutely free to play, no catch.

So if you are a PC gamer and are on the search for an underrated gem, check out this hit FPS now.
