Rockstar has announced a brand new event is hitting GTA Online this month, and it’s one for fans of Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare mode.

Grand Theft Auto Online plays host to all kinds of events, often giving players the chance to unlock different rewards and participate in various challenges.

A brand new event titled Cayo Perico Survival is hitting GTA Online, and it sounds like it’ll be something that Red Dead Redemption players will appreciate.

The new Cayo Perico Survival mode introduces hordes of zombies to GTA 5’s Cayo Perico island, where you’ll need to fight through them as you make your way to the airstrip to escape.

Given the apparent success of Red Dead Online’s Strange Tales of the West update back in July, this might have prompted Rockstar Games to bring a similar event over to Grand Theft Auto.

Considering this is the kind of DLC that players have been asking for for years, it should prove to be quite popular with fans.

Cayo Perico Survival includes 2X GTA$ and RP (4X for GTA+ Members) rewards, as well as an in-game t-shirt for surviving the mission through to 10th September.

Players can also claim the Buccaneer Outfit plus GTA$100,000 in loot for completing all ten waves of a Survival through to 10th September.

Aside from that, other rewards are coming to GTA Online this month. Playing the mode any time between now and next week will reward you with the Panther Tour Jacket, and you’ll also be able to get 2X GTA$ and RP on Hidden Caches, Community Combat Series and Open Wheel Races.

Additional discounts can be found across Sonar Station and Guided Missiles upgrades, as well as various other vehicles and upgrades.

Be sure to check out the announcement page for full details on what's happening and when.
