GTA 4 gets stunning new-gen overhaul you can download and check out now

Despite Grand Theft Auto IV quickly approaching its 20th anniversary, it has not affected fan’s enjoyment of the game.

Now to reward those fans, one modder has created a new-gen overhaul for 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV which aims to improve two very important features.

As the sixth main entry in the long-running Grand Theft Auto series, GTA 4 still remains as iconic today as it was back in 2008.

Set in Liberty City, inspired by New York, we followed Niko Bellic and partook in the usual activities synonymous with the much-loved action-adventure series.

Now courtesy of two separate mods by creators pastreaver and xowny over on Nexus Mods, you can improve GTA 4 even further.

Tilted HD Vanilla Weapons Mod and 2X Vehicles and Peds LOD Distance, these mods aim to improve all weapon textures and the LOD distance for pedestrians and vehicles in Grand Theft Auto IV.

The weapons mod uses AI tools to upscale the item’s original textures as well as bringing an overall visual upgrade to the game’s extensive armoury.

“Overall this is a very subtle mod, perfect for anyone looking to bump up the quality of vanilla while staying true to the original style,” says the creator.

As for the vehicle mod, it will increase the level of detail for pedestrians and vehicles which will result in fewer pop-ins across Liberty City. Although it will not improve graphics, it will make the game a lot smoother, especially when travelling at speed.
