A stunning expansion mod for GTA V completely changes the game, and makes the wait for GTA VI just a little more bearable.

For a game that was released in 2013, GTA V has aged quite nicely, though to be fair it has received the odd rework for new-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

That being said, the graphics haven’t really changed that much, and yet it still looks as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as it did when it first released so many years ago.

Grand Theft Auto fans are expecting big things for GTA VI as a result, but while they wait many are checking out this sweet expansion mod for GTA V.

It’s called Grand Theft Auto 5.5, and it does a little bit of everything to make an already great game even better.

Standout features include enhanced graphics and visuals, more NPCs to make the streets a little more lively, DLC vehicles available in the single-player, and more police and gangs to contend with while you’re tearing through Los Santos.

That’s a very small snippet of a very long list, so I’d encourage you to check out the mod’s official description to see everything that’s been added/changed to see if the mod is for you or not.

Since Rockstar Games basically abandoned the story mode in favour of adding more content to GTA V Online, including a story expansion that’d see Trevor working for the FBI, mods are the best chance you’ve got of keeping the single-player fresh.

Hopefully GTA VI’s story mode doesn’t suffer the same fate, as the rumoured size of the game’s open world leaves a lot of opportunity for expansions.

GTA VI launches sometime in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and eventually PC, so why not check out a few GTA V mods in the meantime.
