'Grand Theft Auto 6' Leaker Reaffirms Release Date And It's Not Pretty

'Grand Theft Auto 6' Leaker Reaffirms Release Date And It's Not Pretty

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is a long way away, but that's not totally surprising.

Rockstar Games was recently subject to one of the video games industry’s worst cyber attacks on record, with over an hour of Grand Theft Auto VI development footage leaked online alongside source code and screenshots. The leak seemingly confirmed the rumoured female protagonist and Vice City setting. On Friday afternoon, a UK-based teenager was reportedly arrested for the hack, but the saga isn’t quite over yet though.

Speaking of GTA, take a look at this incredible mod that lets you play as The Boys’ Homelander in GTA V.

GTA VI’s release window has been reaffirmed and in all honesty, it makes sense. This feels like more of an educated guess than a confirmed leak. Twitter user PereaAdrien took to the website to tweet, “Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release in 2025.”

This may be stating the obvious but this leaker is obviously different to the hacker who was seemingly arrested by UK police last week. PereaAdrien does have a solid track record. The leaker correctly stated that both Hogwarts Legacy and Forspoken would be delayed.

We don’t know exactly when the GTA VI leaked footage was created but even if it’s a few months or even years old, clearly the game is still in the midst of development. This is furthered by the fact that Rockstar hadn’t yet formally confirmed the game’s existence. With that in mind, 2025 seems like a plausible release window but do take all of this with a pinch of salt.
