GTA 6 Release Date Update Has Gamers Prepping Their 'Sick Days'

Grand Theft Autoimmune system

Those who have already planned their Grand Theft Auto VI-related sick days are in luck, following a recent update from Take-Two’s bossman regarding the game’s release date.

The “Grand Theft Auto Flu” is not a new thing, but the next wave of GTA-related sickness is likely going to bring the world to its knees.

Grand Theft Auto V’s release resulted in thousands of people faking sick days so they could sit at home and play Rockstar Games’ latest release, and it’s already been theorised that GTA VI’s release is going to cause an even larger “global distraction event”.

Well, it’s a good time for employers to potentially counteract this pre-planned wave of sickness, because we just got a pretty hopeful update regarding GTA VI’s release date from the big dog himself at Take-Two Interactive.

Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick has been on a bit of an interview circuit recently, following their latest earnings and investors call.

He spoke to both CNBC and Variety over the past week, and noted that his “level of conviction” regarding GTA VI’s May 26, 2026 is “very, very high, obviously”.

Considering that thousands of people have already announced that they’ll be faking sick days when GTA VI releases, it sounds like the end of May is going to be a terrible time period for basically every private and public workforce across the entire world.

Although, if you’re not actually interested in playing GTA VI, perhaps the end of May would be a good time for you to schedule some holiday anyway… y’know, so you’re not working a shift on your own.

Personally, I’m usually pretty sick around the end of May anyway. It’s a common occurrence for me. I have to take at least a couple of weeks off at the end of the month.

Just putting that in writing now so my boss can see it.
