Grab An Ultra-Realistic WWI Shooter For Free Next Week

Free is always good

If you're in the market for a new FPS to play, I've got some good news for you: starting next week you'll be able to download a brutally realistic WWI shooter for the low price of nothing.

Tannenberg is a WWI shooter that was first released back in 2019. Reviews at the time celebrated the game's attention to detail and commitment to authenticity, with many noting that the game's immersive atmosphere often made up for the otherwise fairly uninspired action.

"Experience authentic First World War action with 64 player battles of maneuver on the Eastern Front," developer M2H proclaims. "Grab your rifle, ready your sabre and keep your gas mask close as you prepare to play a part in one of the most significant conflicts in history!"

With a score of 61% on Metacritic, it's probably not a game I'd scream at you to go out and buy immediately. But free is free, and Tannenberg looks like a fun enough way to spend the weekend.

Tannenberg will be free to download and keep on PC via the Epic Game Store from July 21 until July 28. It'll be joined by shopkeeping sim Shop Titans, with both games replacing action-platformer Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap.

While Metacritic reviews for Tannenberg are a little subdued, Steam reviews for the game are much more positive. One of the most recent user reviews for the game compared it to Star Wars Battlefront 2 ("the good one"). Others seem to enjoy the challenging gameplay that forces players to really think about their surroundings and employ tactical strategies to survive.

You might hate it, of course, but why say no to a free game, right? Right.
