A hit platformer game with 100% positive ratings is currently free to keep on Steam, but only if you act quickly.

Although plenty of paid games see deep discounts from time to time, they also sometimes go completely free to keep for a limited period.

Adding these games to your library costs nothing, and even if you don’t intend to play them for weeks, months, or even years, it’s a good way to bank something into your backlog.

And if you’re in the mood for a game that’s nice and chill, you might want to give Shade Silver a look.

It’s described as a 2D platformer and hero shooter, where you crawl dungeons, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies.

As the Steam store description puts it, in Shade Silver you “play as Shade Silver traversing levels finding treasure, avoiding traps, shooting enemies, finding secrets, and secret levels, beating bosses, overcoming challenges, solving puzzles, paying ogres, and enjoying a journey to the end.”

It’s currently available for 100% off, meaning all you need to do is log into Steam and add it to your library.

You need to be quick though, because the free offer is only available until 21st August at 6PM, after which it’ll go back up to its standard price of £2.49.

As for why Shade Silver’s developer Chris Allen decided to put the game up for free, it might be that they wanted to get more players checking the game out. Taking a look at SteamDB, it managed an all-time concurrent player peak of 4 players in the week of release.

But since being made free, it’s seen a new all-time concurrent player peak of 166 people.

So, people are clearly checking it out now. It might even result in some checking out Allen’s other games that are up for sale.

If you’re interested in checking out Shade Silver for free, be sure to head to Steam and add it to your library before 21st August.
