'God Of War Ragnarök' News Was Planned Yesterday, But Now It's Been Postponed

According to insider Tom Henderson, we were meant to get an update yesterday with that highly-anticipated release date.

It’s safe to say that fans are very hungry for literally any morsel of God of War Ragnarök news. As we enter the seventh month of the year (where did all that time go?) it’s understandable that people would be more than a little nervous about the fact that this big PlayStation title still doesn’t have a nailed down release date - 2022 it is, supposedly, but there’s less than half of the year to go. No pressure.

So then, it’s slightly gutting to know that we were apparently supposed to get a proper update (including, you guessed it, that release date) yesterday, but it got pushed back. This is according to prominent industry insider Tom Henderson via eXputer, so it’s not official information, but the guy has a pretty dang good track record when it comes to accuracy, for what it’s worth.

Take a look at the gameplay trailer for God of War Ragnarök right here.

Reportedly, alongside the release date, we were meant to get details about two different collector’s edition versions of the game, which undoubtedly many fans out there will be itching to throw their money at when given half a chance. The first of these will apparently simply be called the Collector’s Edition, and will include a 1:1 scale replica of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, along with a map of the world, badges, “and more”. If it’s just the hammer that strikes your fancy (see what I did there?) then the alternative Jotnar Edition will reportedly include just that, along with the game (obviously).

So, it’s a shame that the announcement got pushed back, but at the very least if the collector’s edition information is true, none of that will change - gimme that hammer. That said, despite how uncertain everything seems regarding the game’s actual release, a couple of days ago, producer Cory Barlog tweeted out asking for fans to be patient, as well as reassuring them that it’s not been delayed out of 2022, so that’s certainly something. We’ll just have to watch this space (which, let’s face it, we should be used to by now).
