Extraction games really are the dish of the day right now, and developers are coming up with ever more ingenious ways to freshen up a genre that's quikcly becoming saturated with new releases.

Fortunately, they haven't run out of ideas just yet and a new game is about to enter the proverbial fray that really does look totally different from anything that's out there right now.

Developed by the very experienced team over at Wolcen Studio, Gods, Death & Reapers is an extraction RPG set in a universe where all the mythological tales of our childhood are real, with the added caveat that all the gods are dead.

In the developer's own words, you'll "Journey through mythological realms, beginning with Norse mythology. Face tough enemies, take on quests, and gather powerful gear and artifacts. Master different playstyles in a fair game environment with strict anti-cheat tools."

Gods, Death & Reapers Has A Lot Of Deep Systems

As you might expect with an extraction game, each time you head out into a map, you'll be faced with the tough conundrum of how far to push things. If you get in and get out, you'll get to keep everything you've earned, but if you die, you'll lose everything you worked so hard to get.

You'll be able to use the resources you collect to upgrade your home base, which the developer describes as a secret fortress. You will also level up and be able to specialise more readily into your chosen skills, adding some additional RPG layers to the already compelling extraction pie.

One of the biggest draws will inevitably be the different ways to play that the game offers. If single-player is your kind of thing, you can progress through and uncover the story at your own place, without the risk of losing you gear.

If PvE co-op is more your thing, that is available too and it allows you to team up with others to fight factions, with no pressure to do one mode over the other.

The game is also being closely developed with fans who are currently participating in the Alpha, with feedback being directly rolled into the next stages of its development.

Gods, Death & Reapers does not have a release date just yet, thought the game will arrive at some point in 2026. Until then, you can sign up for the Alpha (and subsequent Betas) by joining the official Discord for the game.
