Rumours surrounding the potential setting of God of War 6 continue to make headlines with fans eager to see our favourite Spartan warrior take on a new batch of mythological beings.
In both the original God of War series and its most recent reboot, the Santa Monica action-adventure titles have seen us journey across ancient Greece and ancient Scandinavia to battle iconic beings from Greek and Norse mythology.
However, with both sagas wrapping up nicely, fans have been expressing interest in a brand-new setting with suggestions ranging from ancient Egypt to ancient China and everything in between.
The catch is that a setting has not yet been announced as God of War 6 itself has not yet been announced but with it only being just under three years since its latest entry, God of War Ragnarök was released, this is perhaps unsurprising.

Nevertheless, many industry insiders believe that Santa Monica Studio is working on the next instalment and according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, God of War 6 will indeed feature a brand-new setting.
“There’s also a new mainline God of War game in development," the industry insider shared.
“Kratos this time has like… an Egyptian sword, a curved Egyptian sword. Like a saber. Something like that.”
With the team eventually settling on a scimitar, fans are still unsure which weapon Henderson was talking about.

However, it does reveal that Kratos and Atreus may indeed be travelling to ancient Egypt in God of War 6.
Of course, this has not been confirmed by Santa Monica Studio itself so it is worth taking with a pinch of salt but with many fans calling for Egyptian mythology to be the next major theme, it is exciting news nonetheless.
So much so that said fans took to r/GamingLeaksAndRumours to share their thoughts on Kratos’ new weapon.
One user said, “I love the Norse saga but I'm hoping the Egyptian saga is more fantastical and they bring back some of the epic set pieces that the Greek saga was known for.

I'll be disappointed if they humanize the Egyptian gods or try to make them more grounded in "realism" considering how powerful and magic they are supposed to be.”
“It's called a khopesh,” another user said, referring to this mysterious weapon.
“Gonna be interesting tho. The Egyptian pantheon is on a whole other level of power compared to the Greek and Norse.”
It remains to be seen when we can expect God of War 6 and if it even will take us to ancient Egypt but there is no denying that fans are still eager for more of the Spartan warrior and his shapeshifting son.
