I've had discussions with several people about the game Ghost of Yotei at this point, and very few have even a bad word to say about it. Sure, some prefer the tone or story of the original, but not as far as saying those features in Yotei are not good, more that it's just a question of personal taste.
Indeed, it's such a good game that the only things you can really criticise it for are the things that don't particularly gel with you as a player, and that's leading a lot of discourse online right now.
Sucker Punch Production's sequel did deliberately do several things differently when it came to how players approach gameplay, with the most notable being the scaled back stealth in favour of a more combat-heavy experience.
That has led some to rue the lack of potential in the game's stealth mechanic, and it has begun to divide opinion online.

Ghost of Yotei's Stealth Does Not Work For Everyone
Over on Reddit, one user took to the official Ghost of Yotei forum to discuss how approaching the game with stealth as your main priority quickly becomes impossible when you can't one hit a lot of enemies. This quickly attracts a large crowd, forcing the player into open combat once again.
Some were totally fine with that, saying, "I only do a bit of stealth and then get purposely caught, combat is too fun to waste it on killing enemies by pressing triangle once."

"Yeah, in most games I'll try to play stealthily but due to skill issues I usually get caught and end up having to fight. Here I start off stealthily but then just choose to get seen by initiating a standoff," another added.
Others think it was simply a case of the OP not getting hold of the better stealth items in the game, with one saying: "Once I got the Crimson armour and the right charms it was pretty fun doing stealth.
"Once I got the Onryo armour maxed I moved to a fear build and just murdered camps."
However you feel about the importance of stealth gameplay in Ghost of Yotei, it really is a must play if you have a PlayStation 5 sitting around at home.

With the game up for the coveted Game of the Year at this year's The Game Awards, it might even end being the best that 2025 had to offer (depending on who you ask).
