The Witcher fans can enjoy a brand new game launching today, with Geralt and other characters from the franchise returning.

We’re probably still a few years away from being able to play The Witcher 4, but there are still a few ways we can continue to enjoy the franchise while we wait.

It’s the perfect time to replay The Witcher 3, for example, especially with rumours that a new expansion is going to be revealed later this year.

However, if you want a brand new experience, this new game from Devolver Digital is sure to tide us over until the next mainline title.

Reigns: The Witcher is a brand new release from Nerial, the developer behind all the previous Reigns titles.

Its latest game has us in control of Geralt as he makes different choices on his adventures.

If you’ve never played a Reigns game before, it’s best described as a “swipe ‘em up”, where you swipe through different scenarios and make choices which can have dramatic outcomes on the plot.

The series began with Nerial developing its own plot and characters, but as the series got more popular, more themes and ideas were added to the franchise.

For example, Reigns: Game of Thrones and Reigns: Three Kingdoms ended up twisting the theme and taking the series into new directions.

It seems that basing the game on different fantasy IPs seems to be the way to go with this series, as Reigns: Game of Thrones ended up being one of the best game adaptations of the series we’d ever seen.

Reigns: The Witcher Will Bring You A Brand New Geralt Of Rivia Adventure

The blurb on Reigns: The Witcher reads: “As Geralt of Rivia, legendary monster slayer, you will navigate the moral maze and fight for survival through the drunken ballads of the bard. Will you hunt monsters, upset the locals, or run a hot bath? Compose an inspiring epic to perhaps, one day, claim immortality.

“The dangerous or demeaning tasks given to you by the world’s colorful inhabitants can rarely be taken at face value. Dandelion’s ballads steer your story in dramatic and peculiar directions, via thousands of storyline combinations.”

In addition to Geralt, other characters from The Witcher series like Yennefer, Triss, and Vesemir are also confirmed to be appearing in the game.

Reigns: The Witcher is out later today, and will be available on PC, iOS and Android.
