If the idea of dicing with death in the sharktastic Maneater is a bit, er, stressful, here's another game that gives you all the peace of the ocean without any of the sharp teeth: Beyond Blue.

Beyond Blue is described as a "single-player narrative adventure that takes you deep into our planet's beating blue heart. Explore the awesome wonder and unbounded mystery that exists within the world's ocean".

Putting you in the shoes of Mirai, a deep-sea explorer and scientist, Beyond Blue tasks you to use "groundbreaking technologies to see, hear, and interact with the ocean in a more meaningful way than has ever been attempted" (thanks, PC Gamer).

The game - which features a full voice cast and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One right now but is coming to pretty much every platform you could ask for, including Nintendo Switch, iOS, and tvOS - includes eight different dives that permit you to explore the "untouched world" of our ocean to track sea creatures and interact with oceanic life. You'll be accompanied by a super chilled soundtrack featuring music from Miles Davis, The Flaming Lips, and The Edisons.

As a bonus, the game also includes sixteen Ocean Insights,"unique mini-documentaries" that feature original footage and interviews with science's leading ocean experts.

We gave Maneater a "good" 6/10 in the GAMINGbible review, stating: "Maneater is in some ways a spiritual successor to Jaws Unleashed, so if you're a die-hard fan of that old cult hit, this is definitely up your creek. The game boasts beautiful environments and a compelling combat system which work really well hand in hand.

"The story in some ways feels as if it exists just for the sake of it, however - it doesn't seem to add a great deal as the game progresses, other than to explain the origin of the baby bull shark at the start. Maneater makes for an interesting addition to the action-RPG genre, and is one that is sure to capture the imagination of adventurous aquatic gamers, if only for a few hours of undersea fun."
