If you've been paying any attention to games this past week or two, you'll know that the release of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 has been a little messy. After multiple delays, missing console review copies, buggy last-gen builds, and a difficult refund process, CD Projekt has had a tough time in explaining where it all went wrong with the RPG's development. It's all been such a mess, in fact, that all the problems we've mentioned and more have cost CDP founders $1 billion.

According to a Bloomberg report, the game's release has been so damaging to the reputation of CD Projekt SA that CDP shares fell by a third over the last week. CDP was valued at $3 billion on December 12. The state of the game shook the confidence many had with the studio's ability to produce games they have promised players.

The bad reputation of the game has also knocked the predictions of copies the game should sell in a 12 month period. Analysts originally forecast for the game to sell 30 million copies but now it's looking like Cyberpunk 2077 will reach around 25.6 million sold in its first year instead. It's only a week into that period, so keep in mind that CDPR has promised updates that to drastically improve the game, including two major updates for console players in January and February of 2021. This might change the forecast once again.

We have our console review of Cyberpunk 2077 which sums up what GAMINGbible thought of the game in its current form. The potential for Cyberpunk's world, characters, and concepts are immense and given more time it's likely that CD Projekt could have done something truly fantastic with the release of the title - it's just a shame that that potential has so many associated problems.
