Awesome 'Skyrim' Mod Gives It The Combat Of 'Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice'

Skyrim is considered to be one of the best RPGs to ever grace the planet. Just look at its list of features - sublime music, gorgeous landscapes, intricate worldbuilding, subpar combat, gravity-defying horses. Wait a second, go back - subpar combat? We mean, it's not that great is it? Mostly consists of firing an arrow and then crouching so an enemy forgets you exist. It's not exactly action-packed.

Well, this mod can help with that, by replacing the combat in one great game with another great game's - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Sekiro from the FromSoftware team is known to have some of the most interesting sword combat in any game to date. Parrying, posture, and precision are the three pillars of the combat system. Working out what you need to dodge, realising you can't cheese fights, and paying careful attention to the way characters move and react is what makes the system fantastic and far more interesting than whatever Skyrim throws together.

This mod (spotted by PCGamesN) by creator InpaSkyrim allows you to get rid of the old and come to Skyrim with a fresh take on the combat system, which has had a complete overhaul. All of it is heavily inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice of course, with new animations and posture bars to suit the FromSoftware style. Enemies now require more attention and the rare headshot isn't going to cut it.

Granted, the animations might not have the ballet-like beauty that the original Sekiro does, but it's a really interesting take on the combat style. You can see that the stamina bar is replaced with the posture bar so that if it fills up completely, you become vulnerable for a period of time. Poise is also included - not defending yourself against an attack will affect your posture. In this version, you can even parry magic if you like.

All in all, a really fun way to alter your Skyrim experience if you're interested in having a fresh take on the game. Souls-like Skyrim is definitely on our wishlist. You can see the full project on ModDB.
