The Game Awards really did prove to be a pretty spectacular evening, with a ton of exciting announcements for upcoming games that should release in the next few years, or maybe not given how many seem to be getting delayed these days.
The big winners on the night in that regard were Star Wars fans, who got confirmation of two new games that should occupy very different spaces in the minds and hearts of the players who buy them.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a very exciting new pod racer, with highly realistic graphics and the return of that horrible alien from The Phantom Menace, Sebulba, who literally tried to kill a child during a race.
Arguably the bigger announcement of the two came via a brief trailer for Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a game headed up by Casey Hudson, the same game director who managed Knights of the Old Republic.

That said, some reports have claimed we won't be seeing that game until at least 2030, though Hudson insists it will be here sooner, so we're going to need some Star Wars goodness to play in the meantime.
Fortunately, one of the world's best MMOs is set during the same period, and it's got thousands of hours offun things to do to tide you over in the meantime.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is One of the Best Games in Franchise History
The Old Republic era is one of the coolest in the entirety of the Star Wars wider canon, a time period filled with figures of immense power and even more terrifying intentions for the galaxy far, far away.
That's why it has often been chosen as the backdrop to many of the best games in franchise history, and MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic is one of the best examples of that.
The game features one of the best class systems you'll find anywhere, with a ton of cool ways to forge your own unique path. The free-to-play version of the game is impressively broad, allowing players to advance all the way up to Level 60 in the base game, as well as two of the story expansions.
The game had generated almost a billion dollars for developer Bioware as of 2019, and it's safe to say that number has crept up a fair bit in the time since.
If you're looking for something Old Republic-related to do for the next few months, then this is absolutely your best pick for now, particularly if you have already completed KOTOR.
